Procedure for recognition and assessment of education

Recognition for the purpose of continuing education in the Republic of Slovenia

is a procedure in which the holder of a foreign certificate or diploma is recognised the right to continue education in the Republic of Slovenia by means of a written order. The procedure begins at your request, which needs to be submitted on the prescribed form to the school, another educational organisation or higher education institution in the Republic of Slovenia where you wish to continue your education. You also need to enclose the relevant documentation.

Recognition for the purpose of employment in the Republic of Slovenia

is a procedure in which, by means of a written order, it is determined on which level the foreign education of the individual making the request is placed in the Slovenian school system, which area or field it belongs to with regard to the finished foreign education programme, if this is given on the certificate or diploma, the title obtained abroad in the course of vocational or professional education, and the professional or academic title. The procedure begins at your request, which needs to be submitted to the competent Ministry (Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology) on the prescribed form. You also need to enclose the relevant documentation.

Decision on the use of the title or the title obtained abroad

During the procedure of recognition for the purpose of employment in the Republic of Slovenia it is possible to decide only on the use of a title obtained abroad in the course of vocational or professional education or the professional or academic title. The request needs to be submitted to the competent Ministry (Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology) on the prescribed form. You also need to enclose the relevant documentation.

Foreign certificates or diplomas which are intended to be submitted to the procedure have to be certified in accordance with the applicable law of the Republic of Slovenia.
