If you find yourself in social distress and difficulties, you can contact the competent social work centre, where you will be offered technical assistance and get acquainted with all your social security rights.  If you fulfil the prescribed conditions, you are entitled to a certain type of financial assistance.

It is very important to have health insurance. This is the only way to ensure proper medical care. In Ljubljana, there is also the Medical clinic for people without health insurance.

You can work or get employment in Slovenia only if you previously obtained a work permit or another proper permit in place of a work permit. A work permit is not required only if so provided by the law or an international treaty. In the case of shortage occupations an employment permit may be issued without examining the labour market situation.

If you are employed on the basis of a work permit, you have all rights and obligations in accordance with national law.
