Shortage occupations
The minister responsible for work specifies the cases in which employment of a foreigner does not depend on the labour market situation due to the nature of work, and the employment permit is issued without taking into account the condition that there are no adequate domestic unemployed persons or persons with employment rights equal to those of the citizens of the Republic of Slovenia in the records of the Employment Service. Such cases comprise:
- foreigners with professions in shortage in the Slovenian labour market,
- foreigners with professions that cannot be obtained through education or training in Slovenia, athletes, cultural workers, scientists, tutors,
- family members of a foreigner with higher education,
- staff in diplomatic missions with no privileged status, etc.
